Sports broadcasting is highly fragmented. A single sport's rights can be split across network TV, cable, and exclusive streaming platforms.
NFL Broadcasting Rights (2023-2033)

NBA Broadcasting Rights
National games are broadcast on ABC, ESPN, and TNT. Local games require a Regional Sports Network (RSN) or an NBA League Pass subscription (subject to local blackouts).
- TNT: Requires a live TV service (YouTube TV, Hulu+Live, Sling). Not currently available as a standalone streamer.
- ESPN/ABC: Requires a live TV service. Not fully simulcast on ESPN+.
- Out of Market: NBA League Pass ($99.99/season).
The "Regional Sports Network" (RSN) Problem
If you want to watch your local MLB, NBA, or NHL team, you usually need an RSN (e.g., Bally Sports, YES Network, MSG). Most cheap streaming services (like Sling) do not carry RSNs. You usually have two choices:
- Pay for a high-tier streaming package like DirecTV Stream ($89.99/mo).
- Subscribe directly to the RSN's standalone app (e.g., Bally Sports+ at $19.99/mo), if available in your market.
